How We Learn

Methods that meet you where you are

Our learning approach is built around real conditions. No software required. No formal education assumed. Just clear, repeatable methods that build financial awareness over time.

The daily record habit

Every financial journey begins with observation. Before analysis, before planning, before any strategy, a merchant needs to know what is actually happening with their money on any given day.

We introduce a single-page daily record format that captures total sales, main expense categories, and any unusual outflows. It takes under five minutes. Done consistently, it creates a picture of the business that no memory alone can provide.

The format works on paper, in a notebook, or in a simple phone note. The tool is less important than the habit itself.

Learning Areas

Four areas, one connected system

Each area of our learning content builds on the previous one. They can also be used independently depending on where a merchant is starting from.

Recording

Capture daily sales and expenses in a consistent, simple format. Separate business from personal spending. Review weekly.

Analyzing

Use accumulated records to understand whether the business is earning or losing. Identify patterns. Spot problem areas.

Planning

Anticipate future needs using past records. Set small goals. Prepare for seasonal changes. Build basic reserves.

Reviewing

Return to records regularly. Adjust methods as the business changes. Share what works with others in the community.

Learning without technology barriers

A common assumption in financial education is that learners have access to smartphones, reliable internet, and digital literacy. Many informal traders in Ecuador do not have all of these, and they should not be excluded because of it.

Our materials are designed to function fully with pen and paper. Where a phone is available, simple note-taking apps can replace the notebook. Where internet is available, additional resources can be accessed. But none of these are required. The core method works offline, always.
